Primary School Admissions

Our school admission number is 30, which means that when 30 children are on roll in a class we are full. Any further applications must go to appeal through Bury council.

In Nursery, we can have a maximum of 26 children in each session (morning and afternoon)

In Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 there is a statutory maximum of 30 children in each class.

Exceptions to these numbers include children in looked after care and children with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

What are the Admission Criteria?

For Community and Voluntary Controlled Schools, the admission criteria are the same as in previous years. This means that we will allocate places in the following order:

  • Children with a Statement of Special Educational Needs which names the school;
  • Children in the Care of a Local Authority;
  • Children with a medical or psychological reason for attending that school;
  • Children with elder siblings attending the school;
  • Proximity – nearness to the school.
Please contact the local authority admissions if you wish to apply for a place at St. Peter's for your child in Year 1 - Year 6.

How do I apply for a Reception place, when can I do it and when do I find out about my place?

You can apply for a primary school place online. The closing dates and notification of decisions are as follows:

November 2022 – Information explaining the Reception process and how best to apply is distributed to your home address.

Monday 16th January 2023 – Deadline for applications. Applications received after 16th January will be treated as late applications.
