Early Years Foundation Stage

In the Early Years, at St.Peter’s Primary School, our children are happy. They are excited and motivated to learn through rich and challenging learning experiences; they enjoy opportunities to explore and take risks alongside first-hand experiences both inside and outside the classroom.

We have high expectations for all our children and recognise that children have different starting points to their learning. We plan according to children’s stage of development so all can thrive and develop. We aim for all our children to be well rounded, unique, happy and curious children. They will seek challenges and will be resilient learners who have a passion to succeed.

The EYFS framework is organised differently to the National Curriculum that is used for children in Year 1 to Year 6: it is organised across seven areas of learning rather than subject areas.

Take a look in the 'Curriculum' section of our website to see the prerequisite skills which children develop in the EYFS for  some of the different subject areas within the National Curriculum.

Children have the opportunity to develop these early skills as part of the daily continuous provision and focussed sessions available in our early years provision.

Please take a look at our Early Years Policy and Topic Long Term Plan. Our half-termly curriculum overviews can be found in the 'Parents' section. Email links to all class curriculum overviews are sent out via text each half-term.
